In light of their wildly successful Spring 2010 event the Carolwood Foundation is excited to announce the Fall 2010 Rail Trip on October 30 and 31. Special guests include: Walt Disney Imagineering SVP Tony Baxter, WDI Principal Concept Designer Ray Cadd, Disney Legend Floyd Norman and Pixar story artist / voice talent Jeff Pidgeon. But what will make this trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience is a chance for guests to actually ride aboard the original Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad's combine coach!

By special arrangement with the Pacific Coast Railroad, we will reunite the combine with the other passenger cars of the fabled 'Retlaw 1' consist. This is something that has not happened in over 35 years, and there are no guarantees that it will ever happen again after the combine moves to its permanent home by Walt Disney's Carolwood Barn in Griffith Park. The combine has not carried passengers since 1974, so this event presents a very rare opportunity to ride aboard what Walt himself proclaimed to be his favorite part of the SF&D railroad.

After seeing a thread on another board and visiting the parks this week an interesting thoughts been raised and wanted to know if my thoughts were similar to everyone else...
Anyway- In going to a theme park (particularly WDW) what is your reasonable expectations towards your visit? What do you think should be 'mandatory' what is 'nice to have' what is 'icing on the cake'
Parking? All booths open? Being directed to park? Trams?
Overall park? Cleanliness? Rehabs? Staff?
Attractions? Ride Capacity for non fixed capacity rides? (i.e how many coaster cars, jungle boats in operation per day) Fast Pass (Mandatory or just a perk) Reduced operating hours?
Characters/Shows? Availability/ Frequency? i.e is it 'okay' to have less showings/no showings on some days?
Food? Availability? Is it 'okay' to have less stands/lines open (and potentially less choices)
If you go on a less crowded time is it reasonable to expect a potentially less experience than if you went at peak time despite paying the same?
Is it reasonable to be 'forced' into longer waits due to reduced ride capacity (i.e running 2 'rails and not 3 or 4, using 10 boats instead of 15)
Is anything not being available a vacation 'killer' like no Fast Pass? or Parking Trams? or Specific Shows?
Thoughts?

This topic is for Discussion of LP Lotion: Halloween Comes to the Magic Kingdom
A look at the Halloween and fall decor that's come to the Magic Kingdom.
WAYYYY to early for this. LOL.
Does look nice, though I usually don't like Fall colors.
If I reserve a Garden Club Level room at YC, will I be overlooking the parking lot?
Since when has DHS changed some of the pyro in the finale of fantasmic?

What if instead of the great movie ride it was re-themed as the Great Disney movie ride, would you like it better ???
Hi LP-ers
I've got a question for you:
If the following product was available directly from WDW would you:
1) Buy it; and
2) What price point would you expect that is in line with other comparable merchandise.
Wonders of Life Soundtrack:
CD(s) featuring the David Newman's original score to Cranium Command (and pre-show), Leonard Rosenman's Body Wars score and Bruce Broughton's The Making of Me score.
Booklet talking about the development of the pavilion and the scoring of those attraction
Limited edition packaging.
This could be the first in a line of in-park collectible LE CDs.
I'd appreciate your insights!
Cheers,
Lee
This topic is for Discussion of LP Lotion: Best Friends Pet Care Grand Opening
Video and pictures from the Grand Opening of Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World on September 1, 2010.
Did you notice the little doggy looking out at the audience (at about 1:30)? Too funny!
I know I know but I need pictures I don't have :)
I have a fun idea for a project that I need older (Preferably from 70s early 80s- but its a great pic then I'm negotiable) good quality pictures of places at WDW I can print and use. I'd prefer people less but if it has easily placeable background I'd use it..
I want to do something like http://sergey-larenkov.livejournal.com/
though not near as emotional :)
I could just download pics but I'd prefer permission :)

A tour of Best Friends Pet Care, the new pet day care and boarding facility opened at Walt Disney World on September 1st.
So... know any dogs that have visited?
Screamscape has caught wind of plans to build a new DVC resort on the land where Tri Circle D Ranch and the former River Country sit on.
From Screamscape yesterday:
'Screamscape has been sent an interesting rumor that claims Disneys Tri Circle D Ranch area, the nearby beach area along the lake and the former River Country property may all be planned to be leveled sometime next summer, to clear the site to make way for a brand new mega Disney resort project. Anyone else know more about this?'
And more from today:
'According to our sources, Disney engineers have been spotted going over the site, to determine just what will need to be done to remove the remains of Water Country. Others have been seen near the front of Fort Wilderness talking about plans to build new barn facilities to move the current Tri Circle D Ranch to a new location. As for the resort itself, Ive been told that this will be a new DVC Resort, with the design being based on the old Buffalo Junction plans from years ago (minus the now defunct Fort Wilderness Railroad and other extra features), filling the gap between the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. You can find a nice article about the once proposed Buffalo Junction (aka: Wilderness Junction) concept at Progress City USA.'
I am sorry if there is already a post for this I haven't seen one so I decided to create one.
I am so excited about going to Disney World in 25 days.
Now that its so close it feels like the days are going so slow.
I have a couple of things to look forward to first though
My husband's bday trip to Shenadoah caverns is in 11 days.
My sisters bday is in 5 days
My oldest starts school in 7 days
My youngest starts school in 8 days (they do kindergarten one day behind here)
Tomorrow is orientation for Kindergarten.
Also we are doing the scavenger hunt in 19 days. This is actually what I am mostly looking forward too b/c its been so hard to keep this trip a secret.
So I am just wondering how do you guys help pass the time b/f a trip.
Do you do anything special to make time pass quicker.
I have only rented from Hertz before so I am new to National. Should I do a pick up from the Dolphin, or the Car Care Center? Thanks everyone!
